To ensure a secure and compliant installation of the Cyclone fitting into the QB1-21XE WWHR unit, please follow the updated guidance below:

  • Do not use silicone spray, grease, or any other lubricant when fitting the Cyclone. These substances reduce the friction between the O-rings and the inner surface of Showersave, which may lead to air test failures.
  • Use clean water only to lightly moisten the O-rings. Then, insert the Cyclone into the WWHR pipe using a slow, twisting action. This should be done before mounting the unit to the wall, allowing for visual inspection to confirm correct alignment and seal.
  • Using water ensures the O-rings seat correctly and create an airtight seal, helping you avoid any issues during air testing.

As stated in Part H of the Building Regulations (Page 12, Fig 1.38): “The pipes, fittings and joints should be capable of withstanding an air test of positive pressure of at least 38mm water gauge for at least 3 minutes.”

Failure to follow this guidance may compromise the seal and result in the unit failing the required air test.
